A vote on the new stadium for the Potomac Nationals (A-Advance; Carolina League; Washington Nationals) that was scheduled for later this week has been cancelled, and team owner Art Silber now says he’s looking to either sell or move the team. Silber said in a statement last Thursday that he will exercise his options to move or sell the team after failing to reach a suitable agreement on a new stadium for the team. This comes just a day after he told the Prince William County Board of Supervisors that they shouldn’t bother with a vote on the proposed ballpark.
“We are saddened to report that the parties have been unable to come to an agreement on terms to build a new ballpark,” Silber’s statement read. “While we are open to discussing other options with the county, we are now required by Minor League Baseball to also explore other opportunities to obtain a new home that will comply with MLB’s standards for Minor League teams.”
